Auburn firefighters respond to hay bale fire during extreme heat

AUBURN, Ky. – The Auburn Fire Department (AFD) responded to a hay bale fire Saturday afternoon that continued to rekindle throughout the weekend.

According to a social media post from the department, firefighters responded to the area of Hughes Road and Friendship Road to a report of a fire at approximately 2:20 pm.

AFD says firefighters located a round wagon with 8 hay bales on fire at the scene. Firefighters brought the fire under control during the extreme heat.

Firefighters returned to the scene Saturday evening and again Sunday morning after the hay bales rekindled.

AFD says it used thousands of gallons of water to attack the fire.
