Arrest made after Bowling Green woman reports being robbed in church parking lot
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Police in Bowling Green have made an arrest after a woman reported being robbed in a church parking lot.
The incident occurred just after 5:15 a.m. Sunday.
The victim alerted authorities that she was sleeping in her car at Crossland Community Church in the 600 block of US-31W. According to an arrest citation, the victim told police she just became homeless, which is why she was sleeping in her vehicle.
According to the citation, the victim said a man and woman approached her vehicle and tried to get inside. The victim told police that Amy Hawkins, 39, asked for her purse. When the victim didn’t comply, the male suspect tapped on the window with a handgun. The victim then threw her purse outside the driver’s side door.
When the suspects left with the purse, the victim noted the license plate number on the vehicle they left in.
Later that morning, police arrested Hawkins and charged her with first-degree robbery, and theft by unlawful taking. Hawkins was lodged inside the Warren County Regional Jail.
