Remains found in missing mom case
(WTHR/NBC News) Police in Avon, Indiana are searching for more clues in the disappearance and apparent death of Najah Ferrell.
Ferrell, 30, was last seen by her fiance and two young sons on March 15 as she left for her first day at a new job.
On Monday a man fishing with a friend in a pond off Interstate 65 in Crown Point, Indiana called police after finding a human foot with a distinct tattoo.
“We did make contact with two members of Najah’s family who were able to confirm the tattoo was that of Najah Ferrell,” Avon Assistant Police Chief Brian Nugent said Wednesday.
Avon police collected tissue from the Lake County Coroner’s Office that is now at the State Crime Lab for a DNA match.
The coroner believes based on forensics the remains were discarded in the pond after the person’s death. That gives police even more reason that someone holds the key to finding out what happened to Ferrell.
