UPDATE: Victim of deadly Barren County house fire identified

GLASGOW, Ky.- UPDATE: The victim in this week’s deadly house fire in Barren County has been identified as James Barnes, 41, of Smiths Grove.

According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the identification was made under presumptive circumstances.

Barnes was the only known resident at the home.

GLASGOW, Ky.- Authorities in Barren County say a person lost their life early Tuesday morning in a house fire.

According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were called to 960 Boatman Road around 12:15 a.m.

When they arrived, the house was fully involved.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office was later called to the scene when firefighters discovered a body inside.

The Public Information Officer, Mike Houchens, says there was also a possible dog found in the home.

The body was transported to the State Medical Examiners Office in Louisville for an autopsy.

The identification of the body is unknown at this time and is pending the autopsy results.

Houchens also tells us there is no foul play suspected in this structure fire.

One neighbor standing in front of the home when we arrived says it was a four generation home.

The identity of the body has not been confirmed. We will keep you updated when we learn more information.
