New recovery program aims to support teens affected by addiction
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – A new recovery program at the Victory Hill Dream Center is looking to provide teenagers affected by addiction with a place to find support, mentorship and community.
Called THE TABLE, the program is designed for teens who are personally struggling with addiction or living in environments where addiction is prevalent.
Trey Harper, program director for THE TABLE, said the idea developed after organizers recognized a need for recovery services tailored specifically to younger people.
While the Dream Center already offers weekly recovery meetings for adults, Harper said those resources do not always address the unique needs of teenagers.
The program will follow a life recovery model that welcomes individuals struggling with any type of addiction, regardless of where they are in the recovery process.
Harper said the goal is to help teens find hope, healing and connections with others who may be facing similar challenges.
The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, at the Victory Hill Dream Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A free meal will be provided. The meeting is open to teenagers only, with access through the building’s side entrance.
