Golf scramble registration open to help support Bowling Green Special Olympics

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Staff from Bowling Green Parks and Recreation are excited to announce their Swing Unified Golf Scramble at Indian Hills Country Club.

The scramble will be a fundraiser to raise money for the Bowling Green Special Olympics.

The scramble will include teams of three paired with a Special Olympics athlete to play.

All funds raised will go to support all that the local Special Olympics program does including uniforms, travel and more.

These programs are important to local intellectually disabled citizens who enjoy the fun of athletics.

The golf scramble is also a great way for the community to befriend and support the Special Olympics’ athletes.

“Golf is great because you get to be outside and see everybody being in a Special Olympic athlete is great because you get to make friends from all different parts of the county. It’s just great seeing everybody again,” said one Special Olympics’ Athlete, Kelly King.

“What we want out of this event is this idea of swing unified again it’s just unifying people together whatever disability they may have using the world of sport to bring people together and what we see is our community kind of grow it’s acceptance of people with disabilities and the way that we include them in our daily lives,” said Cameron Levis with Bowling Green Parks and Recreation.

The scramble will be held Monday, July 26th at 9 a.m.

The last day to register is July 21st and the price to participate is $150 dollars per team for an 18-hole scramble.
