Shelter caring for stabbed dog and her puppies
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Shelter employees at the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society are caring for a nursing dog who was brought in earlier this week with several stab wounds.
Even though she had life-threatening injuries she was still taking care of her nursing puppies, according to the Humane Society.
They have named her Phoenix because she endured so much suffering and has the will to rise and survive, according to a post on the Humane Society’s Facebook page.
She has been patched up and reunited with her babies and is a very happy mama dog, Humane Society director Lorri Hare said.
“Yesterday we brought the puppies back and she’s a very content mamma right now,” Hare said.
As of 4:09 p.m. Thursday, Facebook donors had raised $5,245 for Phoenix’s care. Any additional funds raised beyond what is needed for her care will help the shelter provide care for other sick and injured animals. Anyone interested in donating money can click here for more information.
