Career Day event held at Barren County High School
GLASGOW, Ky.-High school juniors and seniors getting closer to the finish line met at the Barren County High School football field Friday morning for a career day event that gave the students insight on what paths they can take after finishing high school, as well as participate in interviews, and get applications.
“I go to the construction class over here, and they asked if any of us were interested in coming. I just thought it’d be a good way to get started and try to find a job when I get out of high school,” said Glasgow High School senior Coleman Deckard.
“I think it’s awesome that we get to see all the job opportunities, and to get a summer job for someone who’s looking for one,” added Barren County High School senior Jentry Bowles.
With movie theaters returning to life, local theaters like Marquee Cinemas are on the search for new team members.
“Here about the middle of next month, we’ll be back open seven days a week. We’re really looking forward to it, and definitely needing new hands-on deck,” said Marquee Cinemas general manager Jason Scroggins.
Local first responders also attended the event to look for the next generation of police recruits.
“It’s a better opportunity to tell them what we’re about. What you have to have to get here, all of what being a police officer is all about,” said Glasgow Police Department recruit Sieverio Restontellio.
Also in the mix was a plethora of colleges to hear from, all adding together to form an experience showing students options from all paths.
“Our school district, I’d put them at the top for being the most supportive school district in the state and the U.S. They support anything and everything, and give you everything you need to succeed,” Bowles said.
