FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear says funding has been appropriated to reopen the northern Kentucky office of the State Medical Examiner. Beshear says the funding was made possible through a bipartisan bill passed by the General Assembly on March 30 and signed into law. It provided $1.8 million in one-time funds for fiscal year 2022 and more than $1.5 million in continuation funds. The office had been closed since March 2018. Cases from the region were sent to other offices throughout the state that were already overloaded.
