Life Is Good wins San Felipe; Idol takes Big ‘Cap

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Life Is Good won the $300,000 San Felipe Stakes by eight lengths for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, affirming the 3-year-old colt’s status as the West Coast’s top Kentucky Derby hopeful. Life Is Good led all the way at Santa Anita despite drifting out very wide through the stretch under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith. In the $400,000 Santa Anita Handicap, Idol won by a half-length under Joel Rosario. Maxfield, the even-money favorite, finished third.
