Porter Pike death investigation classified as homicide following autopsy report

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A death investigation that began Friday afternoon on Porter Pike has been classified as a homicide following an autopsy report.

Police were called to 263 Porter Pike Friday afternoon where they found Smajo Miropija, 49, of Bowling Green, dead inside the building, according to a release from the Bowling Green Police Department.

Police, fire and emergency medical personnel made the initial response to the building after someone called emergency operators and reported an accidental injury.

Detectives were unable to determine on the scene if the death was caused by an industrial accident, and the body was sent Saturday for an autopsy. A state medical examiner determined the manner of death as homicide.

No other information about how Miropija died is being released at this time.

Police believe the homicide was targeted and the killer is not a danger to the general public. Investigators would like to speak to at least one person thought to have information about this death.
