Murders of Beason brothers remain unsolved

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Imagine losing two brothers to homicide in less than two years.

Jessica Beason of Bowling Green is coping with that loss after her brother, Xzavion, was killed in 2017 and her other brother, Jotez, was murdered in 2018.

To make matters worse, neither case has been solved.

“We are just a small family looking for answers. Good or bad, I just want to know what happened,” said Jessica.

Xzavion Beason

On Jan. 29, 2017, Bowling Green police say Xzavion, 30, was attacked in the Chocolate City Nightclub parking lot. Just a few days after the attack, he died at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.

“I knew that if he had survived, he wouldn’t be the same person,” said Jessica.

Detective David Grimsley investigated the case for the Bowling Green Police Department.

“We do know there are other people that witnessed this occur that know who did this. They have not come forward to make a statement with police,” said Grimsley. “There are people we’ve identified that saw this happen that we’ve reached out to in order to interview them. We’ve had no success with that.”

Jotez Beason

Fast forward to Sept. 10, 2018. Jessica’s older brother, Jotez, 34, was found dead inside a home in the 1300 block of Stubbins Street.

“On that day, it was the all too familiar phone call,” said Jessica.

Just like Xzavian’s case, police haven’t received much help finding the person or people responsible for Jotez’s death, but remain optimistic.

“We believe that case is going to be solved as well,” said Grimsley. “Neither of these cases have ever stopped being worked.”
