Locals react to the presidential inauguration

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WNKY took to the streets in Bowling Green and asked some local residents what their thoughts were about President Biden’s inauguration.

Residents of Bowling Green have many differing opinions about politicians, the inauguration and the election.

When asked about their thoughts on the inauguration, one man called it historic.

“No matter who you voted for, it’s historic. You have a female going in as the vice president which the world has been waiting for for a long time so it’s an historic day,” said Robert Beam, a local resident.

Some locals were happy to see a new president take office.

“It’s going to be great. He’s a great, great person. He’s going to be the first, the best president going to be in America. It’s like, you know, a big dream. He’s different from other presidents,” said Zam Khop, a local resident.

“I’m looking for the president to give more rights for Hispanics because I am Hispanic. My parents, well, you know how it goes. So, I am just hoping and wishing for them to get more rights and just live our life, you know,” said Ricardo Montelongo, a local resident.

Other’s weren’t so enthusiastic.

“I think gas prices are going to go up. I hope he’s a good president. I don’t think he will be. The last president wasn’t the greatest, but I think he was a lot better than what we got,” said Jeff Trahan, a local resident.

But a common theme among many people WNKY spoke to was hope for unity and peace.

“I hope that we can pull together, health-wise, financially, economically, and lose some of the hatred. There is so many different movements and things going on and I just really think it should stop being all these different factions and pull together,” said Felischa Page, a local resident.

Another local resident just doesn’t like politicians.

“Politicians are crooks. Period,” said Patrick, a local resident.

Many locals did not want to talk on the issue with political emotions so high.
