Construction projects underway on Kentucky 234 to widen shoulders

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Two projects are underway on Kentucky 234 to widen the shoulder on both sides of the road by one foot on each side.

Slopes will also be improved and the road will be resurfaced when the other improvements are completed.

One is from Hunts Lane to Sherwood Drive. The other is from Hunts Lane to the Allen County Line.

These projects are expected to cost a little over $2 million. Wes Watt says he doesn’t expect the project to have a large impact on traffic during construction and will make things safer.

“It is gonna widen the shoulder some, it’s going to take down some slopes, improve the ditch lines and it’ll be a big difference to motorists when they’re driving through there, visually. And hopefully that will be making the roadway safer for people to drive, provided that they follow the rules of the road,” said Watt.

Both of these projects are expected to be completed by fall of 2021.
