Man wanted in Tennessee faces multiple new charges in Kentucky

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Tennessee man with outstanding warrants accusing him of drug trafficking in both Kentucky and Tennessee is under arrest in Simpson County.

According to the arrest citation, deputies conducted a traffic stop on 55-year-old Jeffery Denney of Portland, Tenn. on an allegation that he failed to activate his headlights.

The citation states a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and police found in the car 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a bag of suspected marijuana, digital scales, empty baggies still in the packaging, ledgers with names with references to drugs and monetary amounts, a glass pipe with suspected meth residue on it.

Deputies say that in addition to an open container of alcohol, they found a variety of pills, including 29 Xanax, two handguns with ammunition and two brass knuckles.

The citation states Denney admitted all the items were his. He was lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center.
