Warren County School District’s proposed re-opening plan detailed
BOWLING GREEN Ky.- School districts officials around the nation are examining how to reopen this fall safely and effectively.
Superintendent of the Warren County School District Rob Clayton recently announcing re-opening proposals for his district, which include moving the first day from August 5 to August 12.
“It’s our hope that announcing an official start time will certainly put some minds at ease. We’ll continue to discuss what the actual process will look like, the safety precautions, and the virtual academy,” Clayton said.
The virtual academy will be an option for parents who prefer to keep their children at home. The district looking to provide both nontraditional instruction and in-person classes, depending on preference.
“We’re confident that the type of programming and the available resources will certainly meet the needs of our students, but it’s going to look different,” Clayton said.
Once a month, virtual learning days will be implemented for all students so schools can be heavily sanitized while students are away from the classroom.
One local parent said he’s confident that the school district will have a plan in place to best serve the students.
“As we enter into our 2020-2021 school year, Mr. Clayton, our task force, and our teachers are in a very difficult position. I truly believe that they’re developing a comprehensive school plan with the sole intention of keeping our children safe,” said local parent Michael Wilson.
A comprehensive plan starting with transparency.
“I’m thankful that the team has really been transparent in their communications with us,” Wilson said.
While the upcoming fall semester will look different, Clayton said he can’t wait to see everyone again.
“We’re excited to welcome our students and staff back. We’re confident that we can implement this in a safe manner as possible, and we look forward to seeing those bright smiley faces and to see what’s in store ahead of us,” Clayton said.
All of the proposals will be discussed more at the district’s next board meeting on July 16.
