Trooper Island camp held online this summer due to COVID-19

Trooper Island

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A camp held annually by Kentucky State Police has been canceled this summer.

Trooper Island provides an experience for nearly 800 underprivileged children each year, but this year COVID-19 threw a curveball.

This would have been the 55th year for the camp, which is located on an island in Dale Hollow Lake in Clinton County.

In response, KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer has challenged the camp staff to develop a free virtual camp for kids to participate in online.

Bowling Green Post 3 Trooper Daniel Priddy said there is even a social media portion of the online camp.

Every child who watches all the virtual camp episodes will receive a certificate and patch.
