No decision reached in late session, lawmakers to meet again Tuesday

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Lawmakers convened in Frankfort Monday night after Gov. Matt Bevin called a special session to address the state’s pension crisis.

Bevin’s decision comes less than a week after the state Supreme Court struck down the legislature’s pension reform law.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, two pension overhaul bills were introduced.

The House State Government Committee will hold a hearing on the bills today at 1 p.m.  No vote will be taken today on the bills.

Just a week before Christmas, teachers came back to the capitol with a familiar message to lawmakers. This time to the tune of holiday carols. News outlets reported some teachers were heard singing “You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I’m telling you why. State workers are coming to town.”
