Drugs and alcohol suspected in fatal Logan County crash

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky.- The Logan County Sheriff’s Office believes drugs and alcohol played a role in a fatal vehicle crash that occurred last Saturday.

The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. on Franklin Road.

According to a news release from the law enforcement agency, Clarance Winslow, 60, of Hopkinsville, was traveling westbound in his car when he struck a guard rail and then a tree head-on.

Winslow was trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.

Deputies said they had received a phone call prior to the crash indicating Winslow was driving recklessly on Friendship Road. Deputies said they were en route to locate him before the crash.

Winslow was not wearing a seat belt and drugs and alcohol are both suspected, according to authorities.
