Man charged with identity theft in Cave City

CAVE CITY, Ky.- A Louisville man, accused of identity theft, was arrested Wednesday in Cave City.

According to a news release from the Cave City Police Department, Clifton Lewis, 33, tried to pass a forged check to a local business.

Police said they later determined that Lewis had stolen a customer’s bank account information and printed off checks with his personal information, then adding the bank customer’s account numbers to the checks.

Lewis was charged with five counts of identity theft.

Lewis is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center where he’s being held on a $10,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
