Smiths Grove Police investigate rash of thefts and property damage

SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – The Smiths Grove Police Department is investigating multiple thefts as well as property destruction that have occurred over the past six months.

Chief Jason Franks said Broadway Street has been hit multiple times.

Tools, a generator and weed trimmers are some of the items taken from nearby garages and yards.

Police are also investigating damage to a fence around a field that occurred near Broadway Street.

The field shows evidence of tire tracks and the metal fence was cut and moved aside.

Franks is going door to door and fully investigating the situation.

“Right now we’re going back, I’m reviewing old cases, old complaints and some of our more recent ones in the last few days. I’ve been doing a neighborhood canvass here talking to different neighbors, different folks in the community. [The] last couple of days, I’ve been out walking some of the properties trying to piece together a timeline and look for any additional evidence,” said Franks.
