Parents urged to check children’s candy before consumption for Halloween
GLASGOW, Ky. – Trick-or-treaters are hitting the streets this weekend, and candy is the first thing on the menu.
We know kids love sweets, but parents are urged to check their children’s candy before they consume them during and after Halloween.
The Glasgow Police Department said to check if candy is in its original package, any other form of tampering, holes and foreign objects.
“Make sure the candy you allow your kids to eat is in the original package or the original wrapper. We don’t recommend getting candy, just like homemade candy from people you don’t know or baked goods or anything like that and just look over the candy and make sure it hasn’t been tampered with. If the factor package looks like it’s been tampered with in any way opened or glued shut or it’s not completely closed, just toss it and get them another piece,” said Glasgow Police Department’s public information officer, Johnny Vance.
Parents are urged to pay attention to their kids after they consume candy. If you notice any signs that are abnormal to their behavior, call emergency services.
