Multiple students, drivers transported to hospital after Harlan County school bus crash

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities are investigating a crash involving a school bus in Harlan County.

According to KSP Public Affairs Officer Trooper Shane Jacobs, troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision at Rosspoint Cutoff on U.S. 119 Thursday morning.

KSP preliminary investigation indicates that the school bus was pulling out from KY 522 and attempting to turn left onto U.S. 119 north when it entered the path of a passenger vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Melissa Eldridge of Coldiron, was transported for injury treatment.

Nine students were transported by EMS and one student was transported by a parent for possible injuries, according to KSP. The school bus driver was also transported for evaluation.

The investigation is ongoing.
