Man arrested after alleged hit-and-run near Warren Central High School

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing charges after an alleged hit-and-run involving a pedestrian near Warren Central High School on Tuesday morning.

According to a uniform citation, just after 7:13 a.m., Bowling Green police responded to a reported injury collision near Warren Central High School.

Authorities say a caller reported witnessing a driver strike a student with his vehicle before leaving the scene.

Police say the witness followed the vehicle until it parked.

Authorities say upon arrival, they located a 16-year-old victim in the front lobby of the school. Officers say the teen stated she had been crossing a crosswalk near the intersection of Dragon Street and Warren Central Avenue when a vehicle began to turn.

Authorities say the victim stated she started to run across the street, but it seemed like the vehicle “sped up” and “turned toward her.”

Officers say the teen stated the vehicle struck where her backpack was, causing her to fall into the roadway.

Authorities say the victim was picked up by a parent and transported for evaluation at a local hospital.

According to police, a witness stated they saw the vehicle hit the victim before continuing to drive.

The driver was identified as 47-year-old Tosiwo Ifamlik, police say.

Authorities say the driver side headlight of the vehicle appeared to be cracked from the incident.

Police say Ifamlik stated he left the scene after he “felt a bump” and “didn’t see anything” when leaving the school.

He faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance, fourth-degree assault (minor injury), hitchhiking/disregard traffic regulation by pedestrian and no operators license.
