Metcalfe County man charged after leading police on high-speed, multi-county pursuit

EDMONTON, Ky. – A Metcalfe County man faces several criminal charges after allegedly leading authorities on a multi-county pursuit.

According to a uniform citation, the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Department located a motorcycle traveling at 100mph in a 55 mph zone on KY 1243 near Toby Hill on Saturday.

An officer attempted a traffic stop at the intersection of KY 1243 and J.P. Blevins Road. The motorcycle failed to stop.

The pursuit continued into the city of Greensburg and then into Taylor County at speeds over 120 mph, according to the citation.

Authorities say the motorcycle continued into a roundabout and drove onto a curb, causing it to crash.

According to the citation, the operator was identified as 22-year-old Alex Sanchez, of Edmonton.

Sanchez allegedly admitted to not possessing a license or insurance for the motorcycle.

Sanchez is charged with speeding 26 MH or > speed limit, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance, display of illegal/altered registration plate, disregarding stop sign, reckless driving, no motorcycle operator’s license and improper turning. He was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
