William H. Natcher Bridge closed due to fire

MADISONVILLE, Ky – According to a release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2, all lanes of the William H. Natcher Bridge on U.S. 231 over the Ohio River have been closed following a fire near the support structure of the bridge.

The fire, which took place Monday afternoon, was quickly extinguished, and the bridge has been closed until bridge inspectors assess the condition of the bridge and determine it is safe for traffic.

The current duration of the closure is unknown; when the bridge reopens, News 40 will update this story.
