Barren County Schools preschool programs earn highest state quality rating

GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County Schools says all of its district preschool sites have earned a five-star rating through the Kentucky Department of Education’s Kentucky All STARS program, the highest quality designation available for state-funded preschool programs.

According to the district, during the 2025-26 school year, its preschool sites underwent comprehensive evaluation as part of Kentucky All STARS.

The evaluation measures multiple indicators of quality, including classroom instruction, staff qualifications and professional development, leadership, learning environments and family engagement.

Earning a five-star rating means a preschool program has reached the highest standards of quality established by the Kentucky Department of Education, the district says.

“This accomplishment is a testament to the incredible dedication of our preschool staff,” said Christa Middleton, director of Special Programs for Barren County Schools. “Our teachers, instructional assistants, therapists, administrators, and support staff work tirelessly each day to provide engaging, high-quality learning experiences for our youngest students. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to excellence.”
