Grandmother arrested in Allen County child death investigation

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The grandmother of an Allen County child that was found dead earlier this week has been charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into his death.

According to an update by the Allen County-Scottsville Criminal Investigation Unit Friday, 51-year-old Tina Price of Scottsville has been taken into custody. She is the third arrest in the case and faces charges of first-degree criminal abuse, multiple counts of animal cruelty and two counts of knowingly neglecting a vulnerable adult.

The charges stem from an investigation into the death of 1-year-old Mason Moulding, a child found dead on Monday, July 27 at a house on Cottage Drive, according to authorities.

The other two arrests include that of Moulding’s mother, 22-year-old Alexandrae Price, and the mother’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Deavan Williams. Currently, both are charged with first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

The child’s official cause of death is currently pending the release of autopsy results.

Detectives say there were “signs of extreme physical abuse” in the case, along with health hazardous living conditions.

In addition, detectives say two adult males with autism have been removed from the house and are in a safe place.

On Friday, police stated over a dozen animals were seized from the same home, including three dogs, 12 cats and a possum.

Police say most of the animals had such severe signs of neglect and are in such poor condition that humane euthanasia is necessary.

Conditions reported in the house included a bug infestation and rotten food, and detectives say Moulding had been living in the garage with a pipe connected to it that leaked feces.

Alexandrae Price and Williams remain incarcerated at the Simpson County Jail.
