Detective shares new details in investigation into death of 1-year-old in Allen County
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Additional details have been released amid an ongoing investigation into the death of a 1-year-old in Allen County.
On Wednesday, Detective Ryan Dillon with the Allen County-Scottsville Criminal Investigation Unit released further information regarding the conditions in the home and current steps in the investigation process.
On Monday, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and Scottsville Police Department responded to a reported death on Cottage Drive. On scene, a 1-year-old child was dead, authorities say.
As a result, authorities say 22-year-old Alexandrae Price and 22-year-old Deavan Williams are charged with first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).
According to Dillon, additional charges are expected in the case.
The child was allegedly subjected to extreme neglect and forced to live in dangerous living conditions, according to police. Dillon stated the conditions in the residence included a bug infestation, including cockroaches, and the only food in the home was rotten.
In addition, Dillon states the child had been living in the garage with Price, the mother of the child, and her boyfriend, Williams.
Dillon says a pipe connected to the garage had been leaking feces, and cat litter was on the ground on top of an unknown substance.
According to Dillon, there were “signs of extreme physical abuse” in this case.
Dillon states authorities are waiting on an official cause of death from an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
Alongside Price, Williams and the 1-year-old victim, Dillon states an additional adult had been residing upstairs in the residence with two adults with autism in that individual’s care.
