Tennessee man charged with drug trafficking, illegal firearm possession in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Tennessee man is charged with drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession following a traffic stop.

According to a uniform citation, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Franklin Road after observing a vehicle with “unconfirmed insurance.”

Law enforcement made contact with the driver, 53-year-old Timothy Dyal, of Westmoreland, Tennessee. Deputies say they detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.

During a probable cause search, deputies located suspected marijuana and methamphetamine, suspected drug paraphernalia, a handgun and ammunition. Dyal has a felony conviction in Tennessee, according to the citation.

Dyal was arrested and transported to the Allen County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, > or more = 2 grams of Methamphetamine, enhancement), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and failure of a non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.

The investigation is ongoing.
