Horse dies after buggy attempts to cross floodwaters in Grayson County

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A horse is dead after a buggy was caught in floodwaters.

According to K105, the Leitchfield Fire Department (LFD) and Grayson County Emergency Management responded to the 8600 block of Brandenburg Road Monday evening for a water rescue.

A horse and buggy attempted to cross a flooded parking lot at the Eveleigh boat ramp and were caught in the floodwaters.

Officials told K105 that the buggy operator made it safely to shore before first responders arrived.

LFD brought the horse to shore, but it died during the rescue.

First responders told K105 that the horse and buggy fell off an edge and into a culvert.
