Suspect in Bowling Green armed robbery arrested in Hart County
HORSE CAVE, Ky. – A Hart County man, who is a suspect in a Bowling Green armed robbery, is in custody after fleeing police in Horse Cave.
According to a uniform citation, Kentucky State Police troopers were contacted to attempt to locate 27-year-old William Jackson III, of Horse Cave, who had an outstanding parole violation warrant for absconding supervision and an alleged armed robbery that happened in Bowling Green on June 11. Jackson was identified as a suspect after witnesses reported his involvement and video surveillance allegedly showed him committing the armed robbery.
During the investigation, a vehicle linked to the alleged armed robbery was located at a home on Fisher Ridge in Horse Cave.
KSP troopers and the Bowling Green Department responded to the home and occupants told them that Jackson may be at a home on Old Dixie Road. The officers responded to the home on Old Dixie Road and an occupant told them that Jackson was in a back bedroom.
Police say that during an attempt to remove individuals and juveniles from inside the home, Jackson allegedly jumped out of a second-story window.
According to the citation, law enforcement set up a perimeter in the area
Officers say that during an investigation of the vehicle, they located a Kel-Tec handgun and approximately 16 grams of marijuana. The handgun’s serial number was partially scratched off, according to the citation. An individual at the scene told officers that the gun belonged to Jackson.
KSP received a dispatch on the evening of June 11 regarding an individual matching Jackson’s description walking south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 in Horse Cave. Officers responded to the area and arrested Jackson.
Jackson allegedly told police he had been on a “7-day drug binge.”
He is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), defacing a firearm, public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and stop/stand/park on a limited access parkway.
Jackson was lodged at the Hart County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
