Wanted man charged with fleeing police in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A wanted man is charged with fleeing police in Simpson County on Thursday.

According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department observed a driver with active warrants traveling on Nashville Road in Franklin.

Police say the driver was identified as 54-year-old Michael Chastain of Brownsville.

Authorities say the vehicle was speeding when they attempted a traffic stop. However, police say the vehicle did not pull over and continued to the Flying J Travel Center.

Both occupants of the vehicle were detained.

Authorities say Chastain had two active Kentucky warrants and one out of Tennessee.

Chastain was arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), reckless driving, possession of marijuana, failure to or improper signal, operating on a revoked or suspended operators license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security and no registration plates.

He remains at the Simpson County Jail.
