BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College has selected Corey Weaver, vice president of operations at Warren RECC, as the recipient of the 2026 SKYCTC Distinguished Alumni Award.

Weaver was recognized during SKYCTC’s Commencement Ceremony on May 11 at a ceremony at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center.

A 1997 graduate of SKYCTC, then known as Bowling Green Technical College, Weaver completed four certificates in Electrical Technology, including Industrial Electrician Level I, Industrial Electrician Level II, Construction Electrician Level I, and Industrial Maintenance Electrical Mechanic.

Following graduation, SKYCTC says Weaver worked with his grandfather and other local electricians before joining Warren RECC in 2000 as an apprentice lineman in the Franklin District Office. Through years of dedication and leadership, he advanced through the ranks, earning certifications such as journeyman lineman, and then leadership positions, including lead lineman and operations supervisor.

In 2025, Weaver was promoted to vice president of operations, overseeing approximately 57 linemen and operations staff across Warren RECC’s service territory. He assists in maintaining and operating Warren RECC’s electrical system, which serves approximately 78,000 members across all or part of eight counties in South Central Kentucky. Weaver also directs restoration efforts during storms and emergencies, including any mutual aid or visiting crews to ensure power is restored safely and efficiently.

In addition to overseeing electrical operations, Weaver supports the deployment and maintenance of fiber optic cable that now provides high-speed internet access to more than 33,000 Warren RECC members.

Throughout his career, Weaver has volunteered for numerous mutual aid assignments across the Southeast, assisting electric cooperatives impacted by hurricanes and major storms. He is widely recognized for his servant leadership, mentoring young linemen and emphasizing the importance of community service and compassion alongside technical excellence.

“Corey Weaver represents the very best of SKYCTC alumni,” said SKYCTC president/CEO Dr. Michelle Trawick. “His dedication to serving others, commitment to leadership, and impact on communities throughout south-central Kentucky exemplify the values of our college and the strength of workforce education.”

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Weaver serves as an elder at Alvaton Church of Christ, where he teaches classes, organizes fellowship and outreach programs, and serves on the church security team.

Weaver and his wife, Amy, have been married for 28 years and are the proud parents of three daughters: Embry, Aubry, and Macey. A longtime youth sports coach and founder of the Southern Kentucky Static travel softball organization, Weaver has remained deeply involved in mentoring young people throughout the community.

In his free time, Weaver enjoys fishing, hiking, running, gardening, chopping wood and traveling with his family. He also welcomed his first grandchild, Ruby, this year.

As part of the recognition, Weaver’s story is featured on SKYCTC’s website and social media platforms, with additional plans for an alumni spotlight feature in the VIP Bowling Green magazine.
