Riverfront Park project still on schedule; crews working on boat ramp

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Riverfront Park project in downtown Bowling Green is now officially under construction.

Crews have begun work on a new boat ramp underneath the pedestrian bridge.

To make way for the ramp, a portion of the river was partially drained so crews could begin excavation.

Once complete, the ramp will give Bowling Green firefighters quicker access to the water, instead of having to travel to Boatlanding Road.

It’s not just first responders who will benefit though.

“It creates an opportunity for people to use the river recreationally, for boaters and enthusiasts to put in safely and accessibly, to get into the river and have that access here in downtown Bowling Green,” Neighborhood and Community Services director Brent Childers says.

Phase 2 is expected to begin construction this summer.
