BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Hosparus Health will host its fifth annual Senior Resource Summit on March 17 to connect older adults and caregivers with local support services and information about aging, serious illness and future planning.

The free event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. CT at the The Med Center-WKU Health Sciences Complex at 700 E. First Ave., in Bowling Green.

Hosparus Health is partnering with Pallitus Health Partners, Kentucky ElderLaw PLLC and the Alzheimer’s Association for the event.

Organizers say the summit is designed to help families who may feel overwhelmed while caring for aging loved ones by bringing multiple trusted organizations together in one place.

“Many families caring for aging loved ones feel isolated and unsure of where to turn for help,” said Kristen Roderick, community outreach manager at Hosparus Health. “The Senior Resource Summit brings trusted organizations together in one place, making it easier for families to learn about available support and feel more confident navigating what comes next.”

The event will begin with a senior resource fair at 3 p.m., followed by a series of presentations. At 3:45 p.m., the Alzheimer’s Association will discuss the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in the community. At 4:15 p.m., Hosparus Health and Pallitus Health Partners will present “Understanding Hospice & Palliative Care – Are We There Yet?” Kentucky ElderLaw PLLC will follow at 4:45 p.m. with a session on preparing for the financial costs of aging.

The resource fair will continue through the evening, with door prizes awarded before the event concludes at 5:45 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local organizations offering health care, legal, caregiver and community-based services, as well as learn more about advance care planning, dementia support and financial preparation.

“Caregivers and seniors alike often don’t realize how many resources are available to help them,” Roderick said. “Our goal is to connect families with meaningful support that can improve quality of life and reduce stress.”
