Bowling Green-Warren Co. Humane Society asks for donations amid supply shortages

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Due to the recent snow storms impacting the area, the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society has not  been able to receive its normal deliveries and is calling on the community for help at this time.

Staff at the humane society have been hard at work since this past Saturday, making sure all the animals at the shelter are taken care of.

Due to the weather causing delayed deliveries, the humane society is running low on supplies.

At this time, the staff is asking for bleach, dog and cat enrichment toys, such as scratch pads and bones, non-clumping kitty litter, paper towels, copy paper, pens and liquid hand soap.

Through this trying time for the shelter, the community has answered the call and is offering help in any way they can.

“Any time that we make a plea on our social media, it is within minutes most of the time that we’re receiving things. And we’re extremely appreciative of the support that we have from our community,” said Katlyn Hare, adoption counselor at the humane society.

Even yesterday, we had some volunteers out here getting some of our cats out to socialize, taking our dogs on walks, which is always important, but especially right now is crucial that those animals are getting out and getting some sort of stimulation,” Hare added.

The shelter will be open the rest of this week from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Donations can dropped off at the shelter at 1924 Louisville Road or 1925 River St.
