Med Center Health shares advice on how to manage diabetes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The number of diabetes patients is rising across the country, and Med Center Health is using this time to help people better understand how to manage or even prevent it.
Experts say there are three main types: pre-diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 2 is the most common, and with commitment to a healthier lifestyle, it’s both preventable and manageable. Doctors also stress the importance of keeping up with your diabetes care and asking questions at every visit to stay on top of your health.
“So November is Diabetes awareness Month. It’s really important because so many people, either don’t realize that they have diabetes or have diabetes and don’t manage it well. So there’s a lot of misinformation out there around diabetes. So it’s a good a good time to bring awareness to it. So people can get checked to see if they have diabetes as well as, know where to go to get information if they already know they have diabetes,” said Sarah Widener, Health and Wellness director for Med Center Health.
Med Center Health is also proactive in helping patients manage their diabetes, offering several resources to keep you on track, including a free diabetes support group.
