Tennessee man charged following pursuit into Warren County

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Tennessee man is facing charges after a vehicle pursuit led law enforcement into Warren County on Friday.
According to a uniform citation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a call Friday afternoon regarding a black passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound through Logan County on Bowling Green Road.
Authorities say the vehicle passed through a school zone during this time.
According to deputies, the vehicle eventually measured going over 100 miles per hour.
After trying to initiate a traffic stop, deputies say the vehicle continued to travel at a high speed.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, however, they say the vehicle swerved around them and continued to flee.
Authorities say the pursuit crossed into Warren County, where the vehicle continued to drive recklessly.
The vehicle then lost control after entering a construction zone, authorities say, before it nearly struck a bicyclist and multiple other vehicles.
The vehicle then made contact with a deputy’s cruiser, authorities say, which disabled the fleeing vehicle.
Both the driver, identified as 27-year-old Rodney Compton of Springfield, Tennessee, and a passenger were detained.
Compton was transported to The Medical Center at Russellville for a blood draw.
He remains at the Logan County Detention Center on multiple charges, including first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, improper passing, disregarding a traffic control device, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense.
