Monroe County woman charged with operating horse under influence
TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Monroe County woman is charged regarding allegedly riding a horse while intoxicated.
According to a uniform citation, the Tompkinsville Police Department received a call on Thursday regarding a reported animal abuse case involving people striking a horse off of West Fourth Street.
Police say upon arrival, they observed 25-year-old Kalie Hill of Tompkinsville sitting on a horse’s back while intoxicated.
Deputies say Hill showed signs of being under the influence and smelled of an alcoholic beverage.
Hill was unable to maintain her balance on her own when exiting the horse, authorities say.
Hill was arrested. Authorities say she then became combative.
The citation states Hill kicked at officers and “used dead weight” to keep officers from placing her into a cruiser. She again resisted arrest before passing out and being checked by EMS, authorities say.
Hill was transported by EMS for further evaluation at an area hospital.
Hill was later taken to the Barren County Detention Center, where she remains on charges of two counts of third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer, one count of operating a non-motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, one count of resisting arrest, one count of second-degree disorderly conduct and one count of menacing.
