BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is charged in connection with a weekend pursuit.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was conducting a traffic stop Saturday morning at the intersection of Louisville Road and River Street when a collision occurred on the other side of the intersection.

Police say they saw a gray passenger vehicle back into a pick up truck.

Authorities say they later learned the passenger vehicle was driven by 60-year-old Teresa Matthews of Bowling Green.

Police say Matthews then fled from the scene at a high rate of speed.

Authorities say they attempted to catch up to Matthews, who continued to speed until losing control of the vehicle off of Louisville Road.

Matthews and an unnamed passenger were placed into custody.

Matthews stated she fled due to “panic” from the collision and when seeing the officer pursuing her, according to the citation. Police say they also spoke to the passenger, who stated he told Matthews to stop multiple times.

Matthews was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance before being taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.

Matthews is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, second-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.
