High-speed pursuit leads to drug arrests in Auburn

AUBURN, Ky. – Two people are facing charges following a pursuit and a drug bust at an Auburn home.
According to a uniform citation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop just before 4 p.m. Wednesday on 54-year-old Eric Reeves of Auburn regarding a DUI suspended license.
Deputies say Reeves failed to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit through eastern Logan County.
Authorities say Reeves then stopped and attempted to run. Deputies say a taser was deployed, and Reeves was taken into custody.
Reeves’ front seat passenger, identified as 49-year-old Shelly Jones of Auburn, threw a bag of methamphetamine and a pipe and ran when the vehicle stopped, authorities say.
The citation states Reeves was under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.
Jones was found hiding under a tree and bushes, according to authorities.
During a residence search off of Cemetery Road in Logan County later that evening, authorities say they located multiple plastic bags with a large amount of methamphetamine.
Both individuals were arrested and remain at the Logan County Jail.
Jones is charged third-degree fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third or greater offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater offense (methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia – deliver/manufacture.
Reeves is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, second offense, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), third-degree fleeing or evading police, disregarding a stop sign and failure to or improper signal.
