Upon arrival, authorities say they made contact with 34-year-old Evan R. Hack of Bardstown. Troopers say Hack had walked away during this time in the middle of the eastbound lanes, according to the arrest citation.
The citation states troopers gave verbal commands for Hack to “drop the gun and put his hands up.”
Hack complied and was brought into custody.
According to the citation, Hack was showing signs of “being under the influence of methamphetamine.”
After his arrest, authorities say he said he had ingested methamphetamine around 5 p.m. that night.
While taking control of the gun, troopers say they saw a spent shell casing in the chamber. Authorities say Hack told them he shot into the ground toward his truck, which was along the road near the 92-mile marker of the westbound parkway.
Troopers say they found “a large quantity of Hack’s personal items thrown in the ditch” near his truck. In addition, authorities say they located “multiple rounds of ammunition, clothes, a chainsaw and a propane tank” in the ditch near Hack’s truck.
The citation states a lawn chair was found set up in the median of the road about 150 yards from the truck.
Hack was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree indecent exposure, menacing, stop/stand/park on limited access highway, second-degree disorderly conduct, public intoxication (controlled substance) and criminal littering.
