BG Noon Lions Club hosts 37th Run for Sight, new participation record likely set

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Runners from across south-central Kentucky hit the streets to raise awareness and funds for critical eye care in the community on Labor Day.

The Bowling Green Noon Lions hosted its 37th annual Run for Sight to benefit adult and children’s eyesight conservation in Bowling Green and Warren County.

Organizers say a record number of nearly 300 participants took part in the 5k run, 2-mile walk, and bubble run at Covington Woods Park.

Glenn Johnson, Noon Lions Club president, says funds raised provide free eye screenings and critical eye care for individuals in need.

“We have some modern technology where we use a camera to actually screen the children for 11 different possible deficiencies. We also provide funds to buy glasses and also further screenings through the medical field,” said Johnson.

Johnson says funding can also allow the organization to provide funds for eye surgeries for children and adults in the community.
