Missing Warren County woman found safe, Sheriff Hightower thanks community for help

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Authorities confirmed earlier Thursday afternoon that Margaret Heard, the woman reported missing, has been found and is currently in the hospital.

Plano Fire Chief, Kevin Bailey, confirmed she was located around 9:45 A.M.

“We got called last night about a little after 10:00 pm for a missing female. On arrival, we started searching the area… ended up paging out four more additional fire departments. We used drones, boats in the water, vehicles and manpower on land searching for the female. She was found in a cornfield in the area right behind me. She seemed to be pretty stable at this point,” Bailey said.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search effort including Plano, Alvaton, Browning and Richardsville Fire Departments – along with Emergency Management, the Bowling Green Fire Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

“The amount of people that were looking, the civilian people that were just looking and helping us, supporting these efforts, sharing the information on social media, just getting the word out there… minutes are critical in a situation like this… and so the more that we can work together with one another, which is very, very helpful… we appreciate everybody’s efforts,” Sheriff Brett Hightower said.

He also says he was in communication with searchers around 5 A.M. Thursday when the search resumed, and he’s once again appreciative of the many people, whether in law enforcement or not, that helped find Margaret Heard.
