CUB RUN, Ky. – Four people are facing drug trafficking charges after an alleged incident in a Hart County church parking lot.

According to a uniform citation by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies noticed suspicious activity in a church parking lot off of Cub Run Highway at around 1:15 a.m.

Deputies say when they turned around and attempted to pull into the lot, two vehicles that had several people gathered tried to leave.

Authorities say they yelled for the vehicles to stop.

Deputies say one vehicle had a male inside, while the other vehicle was driven by a female subject with a male passenger.

All three people were asked to exit the vehicles, according to authorities.

Authorities say they noticed several items on the ground, including a loaded syringe with a clear liquid substance. In addition, deputies say one vehicle contained a rifle in plain view.

Deputies say illegal drugs were located, but no one claimed ownership of them.

The three subjects were arrested, including 40-year-old William Jewell of Magnolia, 30-year-old Austin Walters of Horse Cave and 27-year-old Cheyenne Bryant of Horse Cave on a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine).

Walters is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In addition, authorities say they located one person that ran from the scene, later identified as 28-year-old Robert Jackson of Munfordville.

According to a separate citation, the Kentucky State Police was dispatched to a nearby home a short time after deputies arrived at the scene regarding a male that had broken into the home.

Authorities say the male, later identified as Jackson, had stated he was running from law enforcement.

Troopers say the male caller stated he had found Jackson in his kitchen and and told him to get out. At this time, authorities say the caller stated Jackson ran out the backs door.

Troopers say they saw Jackson and asked him to approach their location. Authorities say he complied and was arrested.

Jackson is charged with burglary and first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot).

All four were lodged at the Hart County Jail.
