Bowling Green Police Department mourns loss of retired Major Mark Johnson

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is mourning the loss of retired Major Mark Johnson.
The department announced Friday, June 13 that Johnson died on Thursday.
Johnson served the City of Bowling Green from 1980 until he retired in 2004, according to BGPD.
The department says he was “known for his warm smile, distinctive sense of humor and calm, steady presence. Whether on patrol, on the radio or walking the halls, he brought a unique spirit to the department that left a lasting impact.”
BGPD says its thoughts and prayers are with Johnson’s family during this time and that his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and example he set for those who followed.
