SPRINGFIELD, Ky. – Kentucky State Police says one man is dead after an EF-2 tornado in Washington County

KSP Post 15 Public Affairs Officer Trooper Jonathan Houk says Washington County Dispatch contacted Post 15 to respond to a report of a tornado in the East Texas Community of Washington County on Friday.

Troopers responded to the 3200 block of Long Run Road to assist emergency services personnel with rescue efforts at 7:39 am (EDT). Those on the scene told troopers three people were missing. Trooper Houk says the missing individuals were located shortly after.

Trooper Houk says Ronnie Hill, 48, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner. Seven other people were injured during the tornado and transported for treatment.

The investigation into the death of Hill remains ongoing.

Trooper Houk says Long Run Road will be closed throughout the weekend due to its remote location and limited accessibility.
