Barren County senior named semifinalist in U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

GLASGOW, Ky. – A graduating senior from Barren County High School has been named a semifinalist in the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
School officials say BCHS senior Grant Harper is one of 621 semifinalists for this honor, a group that was chosen out of 6,000 candidates.
According to Barren County Schools, inclusion in this program is “one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors.”
Officials say scholars are chosen based on their accomplishments in several areas, including academic and artistic success, career and technical fields, leadership, strong character and involvement in school and the community.
Each year, up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen from that year’s senior class to represent excellence in education. Scholars are presented with a Presidential Scholars Medallion.
In the coming months, the final selection of the high school seniors who will be named as the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars will occur, and the names of those students will be announced by U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon.
