BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Customers at a Bowling Green Waffle House on Friday may hear something unusual.

According to a release by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, those dining at Waffle House on Russellville Road this Friday, April 25 may hear the cries of dying chickens as the organization rolls in a truck with images of chickens heading to slaughter.

The truck will be playing the cries of chickens, as well as a subliminal message to go vegan, the release states.

The truck is expected to arrive at the location at noon.

“Behind every chicken sandwich is a once-living, sensitive individual who was crammed onto a truck for a terrifying, miserable journey to their death,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s ‘Hell on Wheels’ truck is an appeal to anyone who eats chicken or eggs to remember that these industries are cruel to birds and hazardous to human health and that the only kind meal is a vegan one.”

The release says the vehicle’s arrival follows the spread of bird flu in the United States. PETA states that “breeding and raising animals for food creates hotspots for potentially deadly zoonotic diseases.”

The release does not state how long the truck will remain at this location. News 40 will provide additional details as they become available.
